The Land that Nurtures Sasuke Pork

From the Northernmost Region of Iwate

With love, we at Kuji Farm raise Sasuke Pork. Its homeland is Ninohe(Ninohe)City. This is a small town located in the northernmost part of Iwate Prefecture, a prefecture as vast as four Shikoku islands combined.

The most prominent feature of Ninohe City, with a population of only about 30,000, is its magnificent nature. Most of the city is nestled in the embrace of the Kitakami Highlands, and this beautiful natural environment serves as the base for our activities at Kuji Farm.

Commitment to the Surrounding Environment

Since our founding in 1954, our commitment at Kuji Farm has been to raise pigs healthily. While this may sound simple, it is the ultimate goal for pig farming, and achieving it requires ingenuity, effort, and time.

First and foremost, we must prioritize the rearing environment. Designing barns that minimize stress for the pigs is essential, and the natural environment where the barns are located is also crucial.

Kuji Farm's pig barns are located in the mountains, overlooking Mt. Oritsumedake, a symbol of the Ninohe(Ninohe)region. The beautiful nature, pure water, and fresh air of the four seasons nurture Sasuke Pork.

Barn Facility Maintenance

Just like for humans, stress is the enemy for pigs. Pigs raised stress-free and at ease are inherently more delicious.

To prevent stress from sudden temperature changes, we manage temperature and humidity 24 hours a day. We also keep the barns meticulously clean, as pigs are naturally fastidious creatures (this also prevents infection by pathogens).

Abundant Groundwater

Mt. Oritsumedake is a treasure trove of nature, blessed with virgin beech forests, wild birds, and precious flora and fauna such as fireflies, nurtured by the cool climate and pure snowmelt.

Sasuke Pork is raised on this pure groundwater, drawn from 150 meters below Mt. Oritsumedake, fully embracing the blessings bestowed by nature.

Thorough breeding environment management

Kuji Farm's farms are located in a quiet environment surrounded by greenery. Based on the philosophy that "healthy pigs raised without stress are delicious," the pigsties are maintained at optimal humidity and temperature 24 hours a day. Pigs are moved to different rooms according to their growth stages, such as farrowing, weaning, and fattening. After the pigs move, the rooms are cleaned and disinfected.((All-in-all-out system)

It is standard practice to administer multiple vaccines and antibiotics to pigs intended for meat to prevent diseases. However, with Sasuke Pork, these are kept to a minimum. Raising delicate pigs healthily without relying on medication is only possible with thorough management, high breeding technology, and above all, meticulous care for the pigs.

Commitment to integrated production

Facing life.

At Kuji Farm, we raise 5,000 pigs at any given time and ship 9,000 heads annually. We give birth to piglets on our own farm and raise all of them with care. Product processing is also carried out at the processing plant adjacent to our headquarters.

This is the best and only method to deliver the "Sasuke Pork" breed, cultivated over 30 years, to our customers in its most delicious state.

We take life to live. As we are on the front lines of this, it is our responsibility to face it directly.

We eat life to live. Instead of treating livestock like objects, we cherish them as individual lives, ensure they are purchased at a fair price, and do our utmost to ensure they are eaten deliciously.

Delivered in Optimal Condition

While the tenderness of Sasuke Pork is a strong appeal, it is difficult to process, such as slicing thinly, which makes mass production and sales challenging.

Therefore, by processing all steps, including these difficult processes, in-house and selling directly, we can deliver the appeal of Sasuke Pork in its optimal state.

The method that allows us to deliver it in the most delicious state, a result of our commitment to in-house processing"Non-frozen"is also a strength.

Making the most of life's blessings

Since we raise pigs for our own survival and consumption, we want them to be eaten deliciously from head to tail, without wasting life's blessings.

With that sentiment, we also sell pork brains and spleens, which are rarely sold elsewhere. For parts that are unfamiliar, we have developed processed products to make them easier for restaurants to serve and for general customers to eat.

From fresh meat to processed goods, we now offer over 200 products.
